Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 with Wireless charging tech and Windows 8, launching today.

Nokia will be launching its its first Windows 8 phones at a  combined special event hosted by Nokia and Microsoft in New York today.

The phones to be launched are named Lumia 920 and Lumia 820. Specifications of those phones are said to be leaked out and are as follows:

 

Lumia 920

1.5 GHz dual-core processor

32GB internal storage

1GB RAM

4.5-inch HD display

8 MP camera

 

Lumia 820

1.5 GHz dual-core processor

1GB RAM

8GB of built-in storage

MicroSD slot for additional storage

4.3-inch screen.

 

But the most interesting specifications rumored about these phones is Wireless charging technology.

Technology blog The Verge has confirmed that Lumia 920, and Lumia 820, will feature a new charging mechanism, one that will require the phones to be charged wirelessly. The charging on the new Lumia phones will be induction based; contacts on the smartphones will be in line with contacts on a unique charging pad. Users can avail this option but will have to buy separate covers for it to work.According to leaked images posted by @evleaks on Twitter, the charging mechanism is based on alignment of both the phone and the specially designed charging pad.
