Extension of Date for complaining against private engineering college for charging excess fees

 

As u read earlier in one of our article named “Engineering colleges warned on extra fees, and may be charged if this continues” Complaints have been received by the Karnataka examination authority and government from candidates and parents regarding demand of excess fees by the private colleges. The colleges are pressurizing students to report immediately by paying excess fees. This is in violation of Section 5 of Prohibition of Capitation Fee Act, 1984, such institution are liable to be prosecuted against Section 7 and 9 of the same Act.

As the numbers of complaints received are increasing, the last date for reporting to the respective colleges is extended to 03-09-2012.

KEA has no jurisdictional powers over the additional payment demanded by Medical and Dental Colleges. All complaints given to KEA are being referred to VTU and the Higher Education Department for Engineering colleges and the Director, Medical Education and RGUHS for Medical Colleges.

Complaints about this issue against any colleges can be reported to following authorities.
